Electric Ride on Cars and Jeeps - Batteries maintenance and common issues

Posted by BL on 14th Apr 2021

Battery maintenance

Each vehicle is different however here is the common charge time for our electric ride ons:

For 12V ride on, between 6-8 hours maximum - e.g. driftor raptor

For 24V ride on, between 8-10 hours maximum- e.g. ranch wagon

Anything over the maximum charge time usually damages the batteries very quickly and easily.

Please once you receive your electric ride on charge it fully for the amount required and after every use.

We also suggest to charge it every 3 weeks and if it is not being used for a long period of time please disconnect the battery.

Please follow the below steps in order to check if your battery:

Electric Ride on Car common battery issues

  1. The electric ride on cuts out or does not charge correctly.
  2. The electric ride on does not charge correctly or is sounding different than usual.
  3. The electric ride is a lot slower than usual.
  4. The electric ride on does not turn on.

Music Dashboard Check

Depending on the model, but most electric rides have a music dashboard showing the power, this should never be lower than 2 on the total voltage. e.g 22 on a 24v model such as a Ranch Wagon. If this number is low and the vehicle load voltage drops then the car will not move. Also the colours may flash from red to green and it may not move, this would be another flag that the battery is the issue.

Lights and sounds only work

If only the lights and sounds work then the power of the battery is low and does not work to full capacity, the battery could be the issue.

Less Run Time

If the pedal is pressed and the engine restarts with a different sound then this would be a common sign that the battery needs replacing due to less run time. The usual time for an item is an hour. If you notice that the run time is less than usual then this would be another sign that the battery is the issue.

We recommend that the vehicle would be fully charged and then checked with a voltmeter or the dashboard.

If the battery is 20% lower than usual after a full charge then a battery replacement would be required.

All batteries carry a six month guarantee after purchase, please check your order date purchase before contact sales@funstuff.ie. If you require a battery replacement, then they can be purchased on our website via our batteries and chargers page.
